PROFILE
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Md. Aminul Islam (Ph.D.) alias Ahmed Aminul Islam is Professor of Department of Drama and Dramatics at Jahangirnagar University (JU), one of the leading Universities in Bangladesh. He started his teaching career as a lecturer at JU in August 1994. He obtained his Bachelor Degree (1990) in the Department Drama and Dramatics and he also completed Master of Art (1991) in the same department with specialization in Dramaturgy. He achieved his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) on ‘A Study on Post-Liberation Films of Bangladesh in the Context of Socio-Economic Perspectives (1972-1989)’ in Drama and Dramatics, Jahangirnagar University in 2007.
Apart from that, Md. Aminul Islam served as Chair of Department of Drama and Dramatics & Department of Fine Art of Jahangirnagar University. He was the Provost of Begum Khaleda Zia Hall, Member of Senate, Jahangirnagar University, and former Additional Director of Teachers-Students Center (T.S.C.), Jahangirnagar University.
Md. Aminul Islam writes 7 Books on Cinema and Theatre. He usually writes under the name Ahmed Aminul Islām.

Film Studies – History, aesthetics, and political dimensions of cinema, with a focus on Bangladeshi film.
Bangladeshi Cinema – National narratives, identity, and socio-cultural transformations through film.
Cultural Studies – Tradition, modernity, and identity in South Asian cultural contexts.
Rabindra Studies – Rabindranath Tagore’s contributions to literature, music, and theatre.
Theatre and Mass Communication – The role of performance in media and public discourse.
Traditional Bangla Theatre – Indigenous performance forms and their contemporary relevance.
